Kanjira

Kanjira

An Instrument that looks like a Tambourine. It is played with one hand play and other hand hold, controls the tones - gives a nice bass sound.
Ghatam

Ghatam

An Instrument that is shaped like a pot. A ghatam is made of special clay and is used as an accompanying instrument in concerts. The ghatam produces a crisp metallic sound.

A jaw-harp like instrument made of horse-shoe shaped metal body with a vibrating metal tongue and a trigger.

Thavil

A Thavil is a barrel-shaped percussion instrument from Tamil Nadu. It is used in temple, folk and Carnatic music, often accompanying the nadaswaram.

Konnakol (also spelled Konokol, Konakkol, Konnakkol) is the art of performing percussion syllables vocally in South Indian Carnatic music.

Our Master

T.Shankaranarayan Nandakumar (TS. Nandakumar) was born in Amalapuzha, Kerala, India. He is the son of Sri. Balakrishna Panicker and Smt. Saraswathi Ammal. He comes from the family of the well-known Nadaswaram duo, the Ambalapuzha Brothers. He learn mridangam under the guidance of his Guru. Sri Kaithavana Mahavadas.

He gained reputation by accompanying most of the leading senior artists such as Semmangudi Srivasa Iyer, M.D. Ramanathan, S.Ramanathan, R.K. Srikantan, V. Dakshinamoorhty, Bhimsen Joshi, M. Balamuralikrishna, T.N. Krishnan, L.Subramaniam, N. Ramani, K.J. Yesudas, N. Rajam, T.K. Govinda Rao, Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, T.V. Gopalakrishnan and several others.
